Akola Airport (ICAO: VAAK, IATA: AKD) is a small regional airport located near Akola city in Maharashtra, India. Built in 1943, it covers about 196 acres and has a single runway measuring around 1,214 meters in length. The airport is mainly used for general aviation and training purposes, as it currently does not have any scheduled commercial flights. Managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Akola Airport underwent upgrades in 2008, including runway extension and installation of navigation aids like PAPI lights and an NDB. Despite limited facilities, the airport holds significant potential to boost connectivity and economic growth in the Vidarbha region once further expansion allows larger aircraft to operate.
