Jamshedpur Airport, officially known as Sonari Airport (ICAO: VEJS), is domestic airport located in Sonari, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. It primarily serves the industrial city of Jamshedpur, which is home to Tata Steel and several other major industries. The airport is one of the oldest in eastern India but has a short runway, limiting it to small aircraft operations. Currently, commercial flights are limited, as a new and larger airport — the Dhalbhumgarh Airport — is being developed nearby to handle bigger aircraft and improve connectivity. Jamshedpur is an important industrial hub, often called the “Steel City of India.”
